NEW AFEDJ DIRECTOR The American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of
Jerusalem announce the appointment of Anne K. Lynn as its first Director.
The AFEDJ was established in 1988 as a partnership to help support the
Diocese of Jerusalem in its work.
The Board of AFEDJ sought someone with a proven record in building non-profit institutions, combined with an understanding of both the organization’s committed volunteers and those they serve. Communicating the complex realities of Christians, Muslims and Jews in the Middle East to the people of the United States is a challenge in today’s volatile climate. AFEDJ is committed to supporting the schools, hospitals and programs of the Diocese of Jerusalem as the foundational work of building presence and building peace. Ms. Lynn is a dynamic and highly qualified leader who will take AFEDJ to this next level. Her background in marketing and management during a career in advertising account management makes her well suited to assessing and communicating complex and vital issues. She led teams supporting a wide range of product areas including banks, computer companies and food, drug and healthcare companies at several major international advertising agencies. These included Grey Advertising and Foote, Cone and Belding in New York. Integrating public relations, direct response, advertising and promotion strategies was a particular area of focus. She then turned these skills to the nonprofit area, serving on the Boards of a number of Connecticut organizations. These include emergency assistance services for the homeless and near homeless, substance abuse and affordable housing. As Board Chair for each, Ms. Lynn provided fundraising, organizational development and strategic leadership. She has held appointed positions in public housing and leads a regional collaborative to promote affordable housing in one of the most expensive markets in the country. She holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management. Ms. Lynn lives in Darien, Connecticut with her husband and some of their three mostly grown children. She is a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she has served on the Vestry and is an active member of their wide-ranging Outreach ministries. With a strong history of supporting the institutions of the Diocese of Jerusalem over the last 19 years, the Board sought to increase its capacity to provide resources. The AFEDJ will celebrate its 20th anniversary with new staff and a renewed commitment to stand with its family in the Middle East. Dennis Hensley, Board President, says, “Anne Lynn is a dynamic, highly qualified leader who will take AFEDJ forward. She comes with great ideas for leading AFEDJ in to a whole new level of commitment and possibilities. With the arrival of the new AFEDJ Director we expect to greatly expand our capacity to communicate more effectively and efficiently. This major step forward will greatly improve the positive impact that the Episcopal Church and its partners has on the work of the Diocese of Jerusalem.” For further information on the AFEDJ or to contribute to the work, visit the website www.americanfriends-jerusalem.org or call 203-655-3575.
